The induction process of IPL teams is finally over, with 2 new teams announced for the upcoming season of the league. On the other hand, 2 new franchises have also been added to the existing 8-team setup. Lucknow and Ahmedabad are the two new IPL teams that will be facing off with the other 8 teams from IPL 2022.


According to Lucky 11 as of now, the Indian Premier League has 8 city-based teams. These teams are RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore), CSK (Chennai Super Kings), DC (Delhi Capitals), KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders), and PBKS (Punjab Kings), RR (Rajasthan Royals), MI (Mumbai Indians), and SRH (Sunrisers Hyderabad).

Just in! Two new IPL teams added

The bidding of two new IPL teams has ended, and the BCCI has announced them. Ahmedabad and Lucknow are the two new teams instilled into the league. Bids as high as Rs.5200 crores have been made by a private equity company CVC. Sanjeev Goenka, former president of CII, has made a bid of Rs.7200 crores for the Lucknow team.


The new teams will be a part of IPL 2022 which will be its 15th edition. Moreover, the league will be played next year from April or March. Auctions will be held in December, and players will be announced for each team.

Auctions to be held in December

This year in December, the auctions for IPL 2022 will be taking place. It will add to many other permits and combinations because according to recent reports, the franchise has been set to be allowed to keep three Indian players and two foreign players with a total reserve value of not more than four. There may also be progress in keeping players who have not played - a team will not be allowed to have more than two.


The new teams can also bid two new players (international) with a prior undertaking from the BCCI. The existing teams will not be allowed to play RTM cards during the auctions.
